Norbert Wiener, photo by Alfred Eisenstaedt (Time Inc)"Derg" is a Ge'ez word meaning committee, and was used by Ethiopian Marxists to describe their regime, some twenty years ago. But more than Karl Marx, it was Norbert Wiener (seen here in a portrait by Alfred Eisenstaedt) who inspired the characters in this story.
